0 Sharapova becomes richest sportswoman of all time

Maria Sharapova, who recently won the French Open title by overcoming Italian Sara Errani, has reportedly become the richest woman in sporting history.

Sharapova, earned a million dollars in prize money, which will be added to the other 20 million that she has won over her career.

Bonuses in the 25-year-old Russian beauty's contract have also started to kick in now and over the next months will add another 20m pounds to her bank balance, which already holds a 90m pounds treasure chest from sponsorship and advertising deals.

The tennis ace has now won all four Grand Slam titles, a feat achieved by only nine other women. But still she craves for more.

"I'm not going to stop now," the daily Express quoted her as saying.

"I am rich, I am famous, but I just love competing. Nothing in the world gives the adrenaline feel of being in a match. Nothing I have done in my life brings me the pressure, nerves and excitement of putting myself on the line," she said.

"It's no good being a great actress if nobody comes to see you. Or the greatest model in the world because if someone doesn't put you on the cover of a magazine you are never going to be famous.

"This is sport. It's all in your own hands. That's what I love about it, that you can control your wins and losses," she added
